Many would think looking back now, that times were really really confusing back in the 90's. Especially with the new found globalization and economic freedom, fashion was everywhere.
It was in the form of celebrity stardom - Biggest Influencer of the time being Lady Diana and the new IT GIRLS / Supermodels (Claudia Schiffer, Naomi Campbell, Kate Moss) or the POP Bands like Spice Girls, NSYNC, Backstreet boys. TV & Film personified and glamourized the decade with a unique spin on fashion with variety of shows & movies (Friends! , Sienfield, Clueless).
When I started researching onto this topic , it hit me like a foozeball! There were clash of trends , fabrics, patterns, colours and even aesthetic everywhere. To sum it up - the 90s could be divided into 3 easy parts -
Elegant minimalism - think strap dresses, silk satins, minimalistic colors
Street style fashion / Grunge - think ESPRIT, LEVIS, Sneakers gained momentum in the fashion scene. Hair updo's
School Girl fashion - think Plaid skirt and jackets, fishnet stockings, choker necklaces
All three branches only had one thing in common - it was all meant to be low maintenance.
And of course, who can even forget the influence Bollywood had on every wedding and college goer's dreams.
But how to go from this to the modern age ? Since the 90s Fashion is making a comeback, it is about time to embrace the trends and try to invite them into your wardrobe.

THE MOM JEANS
High waisted denims , with loose fitting all in all. Unflattering for the booty if you don't know how to make it work.

Hair accessories played a major role in the 90s what with the whole idea of low maintenance and easy to go hairstyles doing the rounds everywhere.
Now more than ever, we can see the return of the hairbands, the claw clips, the tic-tac hair clips and so on... Easier to maintain hairstyles are on everyone's minds and it is quick to draw inspiration from with minimal efforts.
